테레빈유 [turpentine]

요약 소나무에서 얻는 무색의 정유(精油)로, 생송진(生松津)을 수증기로 증류하거나 소나무 가지를 직접 수증기로 증류해서 얻는다. 의약품, 도료제조원료, 유화의 용제, 구두약 등에 사용된다. 본문 무색의 기름(oil)으로 독특한 냄새를 지니고 있다. 비중 0.860∼0.875, 150∼180 ℃에서 대부분이 유출(溜出)된다. 물에 녹지 않고 에테르 ·클로로포름 ·이황화탄소에 녹는다. 주성분은 α 및 β 피넨이고, 또한 캄펜 ·디펜텐 ·리모넨 ·테르피놀렌 ·포름산 ·아세트산 ·수지 등도 함유한다. 브롬값 196∼231, 요오드값 360∼375. 소나무 줄기에 상처를 내어 침출하는 생송진(生松津)에는 약 20%의 테레빈유가 포함되어 있는데, 수증기로 증류해서 얻는다. 증류하고 난 찌끼는 로진(콜로포늄이라고도 한다)이다. 또 소나무 가지를 직접 수증기로 증류해도 적은 양을 얻을 수 있다. 이상의 방법 외에 송근유(松根油)를 증류하여 유분(溜分)을 정제하고 다시 증류하여 얻는 방법이 있다. 주산지는 북아메리카 ·프랑스 ·러시아 등이다. 유도 자극제 등의 의약품, 페인트 ·니스 ·래커 등의 도료제조원료, 유화의 용제, 구두약, 합성장뇌(合成樟腦) ·보르네올 ·테르피네올의 원료로 사용된다.
